- The Filipino man who almost designed the moon buggy for the Apollo missions, Eduardo San Juan was born on March 18, 1924 in Manila, Philippines to Elvira Victorina Carrion (1900-1994) and Francisco Luis San Juan Jr. (1900-1953). He had two siblings, Jorge (1923-1923) and Francisco Adolfo San Juan Jr. (1934-1998), and one half sibling, Harold Stevens Wells (1941-1952). He immigrated to the United States and arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 6th, 1955. He became a United States citizen through Naturalization in Seattle, Washington on Feb 14th, 1958. He then later moved to Los Gatos, Northern California. He was married and had one child. Eduardo worked as an engineer for the Hayes International Corporation where he is best remembered for submitting a lunar exploration concept which you can read about at Eduardo San Juan - Apollo lunar rover. Eduardo C San Juan passed away on February 3, 1988 in Los Gatos, California.

Eduardo San Juan - Apollo lunar rover
Eduardo's engineering report details a lunar terrain rover (LTV) that is part of a larger lunar base that would house two people, provide a laboratory, a one person lunar rover, and a rocket belt that could attach to their spacesuits.
His design was not selected, and the actual designer of the lunar landings for the Apollo missions was Ferenc Pavlics.
