Liza strike biography

Strike, Liza

Liza Strike started out as a member of Jet Set and The Soulmates in the mid-’60s, and recorded a solo effort in 1968 with “All’s Quiet On West 23rd” backed by “Mr. Daddy-Man”.  She also co-penned a couple of songs, “Traveller Man” for The Stone Graphics, and “Summer Nights” for Marianne Faithfull.

Background vocals would become her forte, however, beginning with Stephen Stills’ eponymous solo debut in 1970.  Liza went on to record on a number of big-time albums, including Elton John’s Honky Chateau and Madman Across the Water, Carly Simon’s No Secrets, and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon (and took part in the subsequent tour).  She also contributed to a few soundtracks, including Friends (with Elton John), The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and The Who’s Tommy.  (She appears as a chorus member in the film.)

Other artists and groups with whom she has worked include Climax Blues Band, Chris DeBurgh, Kiki Dee, Yvonne Elliman, Bryan Ferry, Go, Eddy Grant, Murray Head, Hot Chocolate, George Jones, Manfred Mann, Johnny Nash, Nazareth, Nigel Olsson, Sad Cafe, Leo Sayer, Small Faces, Spencer Davis Groups, Steely Dan, T. Rex, Rick Wakeman, Whitesnake, and Gary Wright.

In 2006, she was one of many artists who petitioned for copyright extensions in the U.K.
