Biography of Go Jinjing
Go Jinjing, a Chinese diver, was born on October 15, 1981, in Baoding, Hebei Province. She began competing in diving in 1988 and developed a serious passion for the sport at the age of six at the Baoding training base. In 1992, Jinjing was chosen to represent China in diving, with Zhong Shaozhen as her coach.
Jinjing represented China in the 2004 Summer Olympics, where she won a gold medal in the women's synchronized three-meter springboard event with Wu Minxia. She also won her first individual gold medal in the three-meter springboard final. Jinjing became a prominent member of the Chinese diving team after Fu Mingxia. Her goal was to win a medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
On November 23, 2006, Jinjing announced her intention to retire from the sport after the 2008 Games. For a long time, she struggled to emerge from the shadow of the famous diver Fu Mingxia. Although Jinjing achieved numerous championship titles, she could only win a silver medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. The gold medal was awarded to the renowned Fu Mingxia, who was then considered the "Queen of Diving." Reflecting on her setbacks, Jinjing expressed her disappointment at not winning in Sydney. She believed she was the strongest competitor based on her performance over the past two years. Her hopes were dashed due to the pressure she felt, which affected her execution of the dive. However, this setback allowed her to recognize her mistakes and understand herself better. Jinjing held the position of the silver medalist for seven years until Fu Mingxia retired, and she finally became the best.
Jinjing is a beautiful girl with fair, delicate skin and a penetrating gaze. Her name, "Jinjing," can be translated as "crystal," which perfectly describes her gentle, bright, and pure smile that often adorns her lovely face. She prefers a peaceful and quiet lifestyle, and all the failures and bitterness she experienced throughout her athletic career did not undermine her optimistic outlook on victory.
After her success at the Athens Olympics, Jinjing signed a contract with McDonald's, but the national team later prohibited her from appearing in advertisements too frequently, although this ban was eventually lifted. She also made appearances in entertainment magazines, often photographed with Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, a playboy and the grandson of the late business tycoon Henry Fok from Hong Kong. This time, Jinjing did not deny her relationship with him and was subsequently photographed with Kenneth Fok on multiple occasions.
"I am more confident in my abilities than ever before. But a champion is born from diving into the water, not from empty promises."
